Earth Day!

Every April, we celebrate Mother Earth on April 22. Earth Day is the time of year where we clean up the environment, conserve, and get to know a little bit more about planet Earth.

Connecticut is 2017’s fifth-greenest state, so let’s do all we can to continue helping the environment and make positive changes in the way we live and in our communities.

Here are a few Earth Day events coming up in our area:

Party for the Planet at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo
Saturday, April 22 & Sunday, April 23; 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s Earth Day event is about encouraging earth-friendly choices as a way of promoting better health for our planet. Come learn about the Zoo’s conservation efforts.

Stratford Point Salt Marsh Restoration
Friday, April 21 & Saturday, April 22; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
1275 Prospect Dr., Stratford

You can celebrate Earth Day this weekend by planting salt marsh grass to help restore the eroding shoreline at Stratford Point. Event led by SHU biology professors Jennifer Mattei, LaTina Steele and Jo-Marie Kasinak.

UB Wellness Club Earth Day Celebration
Wednesday, April 26; 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Join the University of Bridgeport Wellness Club for a fun and interactive event with over 20 vendors, raffle prizes, Zumba, qi gong, yoga, free food and more.

Read’s Artspace celebrates Earth Day

Read’s Artspace downtown will host a free art exhibit titled “My Park City” in celebration of Earth Day. The exhibit will feature works that focus on nature found within Connecticut’s largest city.

Join the Trumbull Nature & Arts Center for this fun and fascinating program with The 3 Foragers. This group of Connecticut experts will teach you about the edible plants of spring.
