Senator McCrory , Hartford HealthCare, Phillips Metropolitan C.M.E. Church, and Local Hartford Partners Announce Mobile COVID-19 Testing at the Phillips Health Center in Hartford’s North End

Hartford – State Senator Doug McCrory (D-Hartford), Hartford HealthCare, Phillips Metropolitan C.M.E. Church, The Community Safety Coalition (CSC), and Francine Entertainment and Marketing will conduct free mobile COVID-19 testing at the Phillips Health Center (2550 Main Street) on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M.

“Testing is crucial and the ability for residents to be tested for COVID-19 in their area strengthens our response to the virus from a community and public health perspective. I am pleased that testing will be available to North End residents in their own neighborhood,” said Sen. McCrory. “Residents who are tested will know if they have COVID-19 and receive guidance on caring for their personal health and protecting the health of their family and friends.”

Residents interested in receiving a test are encouraged to register in advance by calling Harriot Home Health Services at 860-904-9045. The phone number to register is available 24/7 and those who register in advance will be tested by appointment between 8 A.M. to 2 P.M. Walk-in testing is available from 2-4 P.M.

Testing is free and no insurance required. The COVID-19 testing will take about three minutes, with results provided in one to three days. Follow-up support will be provided by registered nurses.

Residents seeking to be tested are asked to wear a face covering when visiting the Phillips Health Center. Undocumented residents are welcome.

Children between the ages of 12 to 17 years old must have a guardian present and provide an ID to be tested. Tests will not be given to children under the age of 12.

According to the Connecticut Department of Public Health, Hartford has seen 1,505 cases of COVID-19 and 115 COVID-related deaths as of May 9, 2020.

The Community Safety Coalition (CSC) along with several local Hartford leaders have merged together in support of their community to combat this pandemic.

“This outreach and engagement is another demonstration of these organizations’ dedication to serving the community consistently and with purpose,” said CSC Chair JoAnn Price.

“The COVID-19-testing site at Philips Health Center falls in line with the church’s mission to seek the peace of the city especially in the North End of Hartford for our community,” said Pastor Jeremy L Williams of Philips Metropolitan C.M.E. Church.
