What Senators Do After Session

What does a full time state senator do when the regular annual session of the General Assembly has finished? The General Assembly has frequent special sessions during the remainder of the year, and I am now focused on a special session that will take place later this month. It will deal with significant legislation that we did not complete in the regular session; consideration of overriding the Governor’s vetoes of several bills such as the energy bill which received much support except from the utilities; and an amendment to the clean elections law which a federal court ruled as discriminatory to minor parties.
